US retailer Kroger (NYSE:KR) has approximately 2,700 stores in the US. The cheapest retailer of groceries in the US is probably Aldi, which now has 2,560 stores.
With gas (petrol) and diesel prices high in the US, we think shoppers will migrate to heavy discounters away from Kroger’s and the pseudo-discounters (Walmart is usually about 10% more expensive than Aldi).
Time to think retail exposures again.
